Becky Dornisch

Below, Becky shares why she pursued the CFRE:
Obtaining my CFRE has been a personal goal of mine for many years. Each time I began the process of filling out the application and studying for the test, life always seemed to get in the way. Right before leaving MUSC; however, I decided I  didn't have any 'excuses" to not finish the application and finally accomplished that part of the process. I was accepted to take the test before the November 30, 2017 testing window. I set a study schedule each day, took the grueling test, and passed all within one month of my application being accepted!
For anyone wanting to take the test my advice is it is never too late to achieve this goal no matter how long you have been in fundraising. The key is keeping track of your continuing education credits, volunteer hours, and the amount you raised each year. Obtaining your CFRE I feel is an important credential to have as a fundraiser since it demonstrates the high ethical standards and competence we need in our field. I can't wait to put my 28 years of experience and my CFRE to work with a non-profit in the near future.
