Job title: Director of Philanthropy
Employed by: Charleston Animal Society
What I like most about my job:
Being a part of such a stellar lifesaving operation. I love being able to tell my donors that they are saving animal lives because they truly are. And, of course, I cannot resist spending time with the many dogs and cats that are looking for new homes! They provide as much support to us as we do to them some days.
I joined the Lowcountry Chapter of AFP because: I wanted to take advantage of the benefits of membership! There is a great focus on career development, and I appreciate that.
I'm originally from: Bainbridge, New York (small town, one stoplight, about 90 minute from Syracuse).
My hobbies include: I'm an avid sports fan, especially college basketball (Go Orange!), but I also enjoy most things outdoors (concerts, beach volleyball, festivals). I am also active in CrossFit, a board member of YNPN Lowcountry, and a new homeowner so I am sure to be adding hobbies in the next few months!
Something my AFP colleagues might not know about me is: If I could re-do my education, I would go for broadcast journalism. I grew up wanting to be Linda Cohn on Sportscenter. Instead, I have a Masters Degree in Human Services with a specialization in marital, couple, and family counseling! Not quite the same!
If I had one week to do anything I wanted, I would: Take a trip to Italy. My grandfather was from Sicily so I'd like to see his city, as well as Tuscany and Venice!
