Julia Lane Willis

What I like most about my job:  Since I just started at Island Realty, here is a bit about both of my jobs. At HCF, I loved being in the center of our community -- the Old and Historic District of Charleston -- and learning about the history, people, architecture, and culture that define everything Charleston.  I have to say I greatly enjoyed planning tours, especially walking tours through houses, gardens and graveyards, and day trips to renowned plantations such as Mulberry (c. 1713) and Frank Lloyd Wright's Auldbrass.  Also, finding ways to earn income through our shops, museums, programs and partnerships was a creative and dynamic challenge.  At Island Realty, I am in love with learning the complex operations of the company and working to attract visitors to Charleston, who are critical to all of us by supporting the Lowcountry economy, and feeling the trickle down effect that these visitors have on all of our non-profit festivals, events, and ''second-home'' donors/philanthropists.  It is rewarding to know that my marketing efforts result in a beach vacation (and to many being on the beach in Charleston is the highlight of their year). 

My goals for National Philanthropy Day this year are to:  Net 33% more than last year and hear positive feedback about the food. 

I'm originally from:  Greenville, SC

My hobbies include:  Triathlons, Clemson football, wine, and most importantly, traveling.

Something my AFP colleagues might not know about me is:  I have a master's degree in International Hospitality and Tourism Management.

If I had one week to do anything I wanted, I would:  Fly to Paris with Patrick, ride bikes and experience joie de vivre.
