The mission of Lowcountry Food Bank is to lead the fight against hunger in our community. Lowcountry Food Bank was founded in 1983 as a clearinghouse for donated food items through the generosity of Trident United Way and Coastal Community Foundation. In 2017, LCFB partnered with approximately 300 agencies to distribute over 28 million pounds of food to over 200,000 food-insecure children, seniors, and adults. The Director of Major Gifts is responsible for the development and overall management of the major gifts program, including planning, coordinating, designing and implementing strategies for cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of all individuals making major gifts. The Director will establish and oversee donor portfolios of more than $1 million; assure the achievement of assertive fundraising goals; actively manage a portfolio of 125 to 150 donors/prospects; oversee preparation of materials including donor correspondence, solicitation, and acknowledgements; establish procedures for qualifying and tracking prospects and establish and maintain a donor cultivation cycle that includes qualifying and cultivating prospective donors to ensure that new donors are developed and a stewardship plan is implemented for other gifts. This position works closely with the President, Chief Development Officer and Donor Database Manager to ensure coordination among individual giving programs.
