Class Reunion Campaign Development Officer

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Class Reunion Campaign (CRC) Development Officer is part of The Citadel Foundation’s CRC team and is responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of donors and prospective donors in the CRC scope and in correlation with class reunions.

REPORTS TO: Director of Class Reunion Campaigns


• Manage Class Reunion Campaign classes, number to be determined annually, which includes volunteer management, goal setting, and visits with top tier prospects (travel required monthly)

• Identify, cultivate and solicit gift prospects for The Citadel’s fundraising priorities

• Provide timely, written reports regarding the outcome of cultivation and solicitation activities

• Steward donors and classes that have completed a campaign

• Attain metric goals for the year which include making face-to-face visits with prospects and donors, number to be determined annually, raising a minimum goal to be set annually for The Citadel, and making contact with prospects and donors through other forms of communication (email, phone calls, etc.)

• Build and collaborate with a committee of volunteers associated with a current CRC effort, steer them toward reunion goals and projects that are realistic and support the college’s greatest needs, utilize committee members to network within class and gain prospect leads

• Assist Annual and Reunion Giving team in planning and execution of annual events, such as Volunteers’ Conference, Homecoming and Reunion Events

• Work collaboratively with The Citadel Foundation team, members of The Citadel faculty and staff, students, and volunteers

• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Class Reunion Campaigns to include special projects to assist in the overall fundraising efforts within the Annual Giving and Class Reunion Campaign teams, along with unified efforts throughout TCF

• Travel required monthly with results-based metrics


• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education

• At least two (2) years of experience in related development/fundraising

• Thorough knowledge of fundraising principles

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal

• Experience with computer based software (i.e. word processing and spreadsheet applications)

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle the needs of a fast-paced work environment and special needs of donors

• Ability to lead and motivate others

• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks  

• Motivation to travel extensively in the fulfillment of duties


• Experience with volunteer management

• Two (2) years’ work experience in annual giving and/or higher education philanthropy • Specific experience with Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge • Additional experience or education in fundraising • Familiarity with and affinity for The Citadel and its mission, including its core values
