Position Summary

The Avian Conservation Center / Center for Birds of Prey (“the Center”) is seeking an enthusiastic candidate for the newly created Advancement Associate position.

As key personnel working directly with the public and potential donors/members, this position will serve as an important, dynamic liaison between two departments: Guest Services (customer service) and Development (fundraising).

Under general supervision of the Development Officer and the Administrative/Communications Manager, the Advancement Associate will operate the Center’s Guest Services facility Thursday – Saturday while the Center is open to the public and assist in development and communications activities Tuesday – Wednesday in the administrative office.

This is a full-time, salaried position. Health insurance benefits are available after completing 90 days of service. The hours include, but are not limited to, Tuesday-Saturday, 8:30AM-5PM.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • College degree
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Excellence in customer service and written and oral communications
  • Desire to learn about donor communications and non-profit management
  • Ability to lift 30lbs
  • Comfortable with tablet and swipe technology
  • Experience with cash management and retail sales
  • Ability to work outside in all seasons
  • Reliable transportation

The Center’s mission is to identify and address vital environmental issues by providing medical care to injured birds of prey and shorebirds, and through educational, research, and conservation initiatives. Founded in 1991 and now celebrating over twenty five years of service, the Avian Conservation Center has emerged as the premier avian center in the region and the only one of its kind in the nation comprehensively combining science, education, research, medical care, captive breeding and oiled bird treatment.
